Review

Bought Dream Theater's new album Systematic Chaos (damn chunted title rite??) on Deepavali day. Eight songs in all and it doesn't disappoint. If the last album (Octavarium) sounded more hard rock than prog rock, then my friend, fret not.

Like it's title, the songs are chaotic. I meant the time signatures for the songs. It's unnatural to a casual listener, but for one who understands music, the time is literally chaotic. But it's systematic. Lol

I fell in love with the first and last songs- they are actually one song, broken into two parts. In The Presence of Enemies is collectively nearly 26 minutes long. It has the typical DT parts: Kick-ass intro (this time it's 5 minutes of intrumental before the lyrics start), funky chorus ("Dark Master, I will fight for you"), multi-part, offtime music; more intrumental section and by the time the song comes to an end, you want to replay it.

Other songs include Forsaken, Constant Motion, The Dark Eternal Night, Repentance (feat. a whole lotta singers including Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and others), Prophets of War and The Ministry of Lost Souls.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who appreciates good music but if you're the kinda person who prefers songs to be in 4/4 time, then this is definitely not for you. Instead, go wank.

Update

Tooth pain. Past few days. Like hell.

My half grown wisdom tooth decided it wanted to grow some more. It's pushing up my gums and booyaka! Fucking hurts..

Leah's holidaying in New Zealand and it's weird not having her around. I mean she wasn't physically around but at least I could call her up and hear her voice. Now, I only get to talk to her online.

It was weird the first few days because I know damn well that she's overseas but I still couldn't help checking my phone every morning for her messages. (She sends me a sort of a wake up message. Messages range from "Gumorning", "Time to wake up" to "Wake up la bodoh!").

So what's a guy to do when he's lonely?? I got back to playing Star Wars Jedi Outcast 2. I was stuck in this place and left the game for about three months. I was stuck in a somewhat dark place and it took me three fucking months to realise I was using the binoculars instead of a night vision goggles. Haisho..Anywayz, once I got past that, I finished the entire game in three days. And now I got nothing else to play :( (BTW, I wrote a poem in the previous post. My very first. Tell me how it is yea?? Hehe)

I've got a press conference to attend tomorrow. A girl in my college suffers from leukemia and we managed to collect about RM 15k if I'm not mistaken. She needs a bone marrow transplant and her monthly cost is about RM 8000. Anywayz, we're (The HELP Joint Student Council) is officially handing over the check to her parents tommorrow morning. The reason the press are going to be there is because they previously covered the attempt to have the longest lantern walk which was organised by my college. (It was to raise funds for the girl).

If anybody is interested in donating (preferably in cash because of the monthly costs and for the transplant thingy. She needs about RM 200k for the op), please contact me through my blog here. Thank you.

I Miss You

I miss you,
The times we laughed,
The times we cried,
The times we made fun of others,
And each other.

I miss you,
The smell of you,
On my shirt,
When your lips met mine,
When I had you in my arms.

I miss you,
When we talked about nothing,
When we fed each other,
When we were alone,
Together.

I miss you.

Foot In Mouth

Shit! My family reads The Star newspaper (biased shit, I know; ever read Joceline Tan's pieces??) and I missed out on the interview that NST conducted with our favourite politician (not the two bocor or close one eye flers; I mentioned him in a previous post). For those who missed the wonderful, dunno-whether-to-laugh-or-cry interview see here..

What does he mean by "minority is not important", "bloggers write rubbish" and whatnot?? Doesn't the macha know that a single vote can fuck you up bad?? And that single vote is minority innit? And what's this shit about "bloggers write rubbish"?? Dey, if you haven't realised, the Internet is the only free form of media la..All your other form of media has been kau tim-ed by your people. Of course those medias are afraid to write "rubbish" la..

And in a previous statement, he said that the EC (Election Commision) is tied directly to the Legislature (the Gomen). So what I learnt back in high school history about the EC being an independent body is bull eh? Maybe I should go recheck my paper..Think I made a mistake in the election chapter..And our dear friend might have just confirmed our worst suspicions..Tied directly?? Now we know..Thanks ar macha, you da man la!!
